For teachers of primary and secondary science
We welcome science teachers from primary and secondary schools to join us for the ASERA 2017 Conference, either for the full conference or for a single day.

Please note that the conference program on Friday 30th June will focus on the theme of Science Education Research to Practice, designed to bring together primary and secondary teachers of science with the science education research community for mutually productive sessions, conversations and knowledge exchange.
Friday’s program is an accredited NESA professional learning course at Proficient and Highly Accomplished levels for NSW Teachers. (Teachers from other states and territories should check with their relevant accreditation body as to how this program is recognised.)
AITSL Standards of PROFICIENT TEACHER addressed by Friday's program
- 6.2.2 Participate in learning to update knowledge and practice, targeted to professional needs and school and/or system priorities.
- 6.3.2 Contribute to collegial discussions and apply constructive feedback from colleagues to improve professional knowledge and practice.
- 6.4.2 Undertake professional learning programs designed to address identified student learning needs.
AITSL Standards of HIGHLY ACCOMPLISHED TEACHER addressed by Friday's program
- 2.1.3 Support colleagues using current and comprehensive knowledge of content and teaching strategies to develop and implement engaging learning and teaching programs.
- 2.2.3 Exhibit innovative practice in the selection and organisation of content and delivery of learning and teaching programs.
- 6.3.3 Initiate and engage in professional discussions with colleagues in a range of forums to evaluate practice directed at improving professional knowledge and practice, and the educational outcomes of students.
Teachers seeking accreditation at Highly Accomplished level
Should submit an abstract for a paper or poster presentation, to share science education research that they have conducted in their own classroom or school, or beyond (see Abstract Submission section for details). Teachers wishing to present classroom- or school-based research as part of the Friday program should flag this when they submit their paper/poster proposal.
