Australia’s future economic growth and liveability depend significantly on the safety, reliability, and resilience of its civil infrastructure. While managing infrastructure maintenance, operation, and associated costs poses major challenges, failure or compromise is not an option for a well-functioning society.
This research theme focuses on the dynamics, reliability, and AI driven health monitoring of civil infrastructure, with key areas including:
- Digital Twin for condition assessment through structural modelling, real-time monitoring, smart sensing, and information fusion.
- Vibration-based structural damage quantification, with a focus on Physics-Informed Machine Learning and Transfer Learning.
- AI-assisted visual defect detection, quantification and prognosis for civil infrastructure.
- Innovative solutions for vibration reduction and isolation in civil structures.
