Our internationally leading team consists of health economists, social scientists, and clinician-researchers that together promote interdisciplinary education, research and partnership for the management of health and social services.

Research

Our multidisciplinary research team specialises in:

  • performance monitoring of health services with innovative use of health data;
  • workforce analysis and modelling, considering occupational health and safety, skill mix, teamwork and culture;
  • planning for the development and delivery of new ways to provide care;
  • implementation of change in health and social services;
  • quality improvement programs embedded within service delivery;
  • evaluation of health and social services and health policy, including quality of life, health outcomes and economic evaluation;
  • embedded and collaborative safety and quality research methodologies;
  • co-design.

Education

Our programs are designed in partnership with consumers, industry and community. They are built on the belief that collaboration between the community, clinicians, managers and researchers is central to effecting change.

Health and social services are rapidly evolving, and so we provide current and relevant knowledge to service managers, which is crucial to the provision of equitable and high-value care.

In the Discipline of Health Services Management we offer:

  • Master of Health Services Management, with specialisations in Quality and Safety, Digital Health, Leadership, and Planning;
  • Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management;
  • Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management;
  • Higher degrees research programs, including PhD and Masters-level training, with the option for industry placement.

Our education program features:

  • Royal Australia College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) recognised (for Master of Health Services Management);
  • Delivered fully online by our senior academic team;
  • Highlights the practical application of policy and theory to everyday challenges and practice;
  • Understands the pressures and stresses within the current health and social service environment
  • Offers flexible study options for  students
  • Developed with guidance from an Advisory Board consisting of senior executives from the health industry to ensure the relevance and currency of the applied approach to health services management and research.

Consulting and community partnership

In the Discipline of Health Services Management we support and assist health and social services with operational, day-to-day management and decision support, implementation and evaluation activities. In collaboration with industry, our team provides consultation packages specifically tailored to suit the needs of the requesting health agency.

We provide specific consultancy and advisory services for health and social services to develop and support industry best practice by:

  • increasing the efficiency of management systems to improve quality and safety in health and social services; strengthening the capacity to quickly interpret and implement new knowledge from research;
  • improving workforce planning and education for future health needs.
