How you can tell us about something or connect with support
Whether you want support, to tell us about something that has happened, make a formal report, or to just talk through your options, you can reach out to us in any of the following ways: speak with a safety caseworker, submit a report or disclose online or talk to someone you trust
Speak with a safety caseworker
Safety caseworkers are professionally trained, trauma-informed staff, available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, who can:
- listen to you, talk about what has happened and offer confidential support
- help you explore your options and decide what further steps, if any, are right for you
- connect you to further resources
- help coordinate practical arrangements such as safety and support planning
- guide you through collecting and recording information or evidence
- walk alongside you to help navigate UTS systems – from making a report to the conclusion of formal processes
UTS staff and students can speak to a safety caseworker via email, on the phone or in person.

Submit a report or disclosure online
You can report an incident, disclose information or raise a concern online at any time.
The UTS GBV portal allows you to share as much or as little information as you choose. You may always add further details later. You can also retract a report at any time.
You can submit a disclosure anonymously, but please be aware that this may limit our ability to respond to you directly or provide you with information or updates.
To learn more about your reporting options, see report or raise a concern about gender-based violence.
Talk to someone you trust
If you feel more comfortable talking to someone at the university who you know and trust, that’s okay. This could be a responsible academic officer (RAO), a subject coordinator, a supervisor, colleague or friend. UTS can support you and the person you speak to as you decide what, if anything, to do next.
You can also go to other UTS support services:
- Students can speak with a UTS Counsellor for confidential guidance and support.
- Staff can contact:
- UTS People Unit
- Employee Assistance Program (SharePoint)
- Yamurrah (SharePoint) for First Nations staff.
- Anyone can contact UTS Security by calling 1800 249 559 or make an in-person report to UTS Security in the Tower Building, next to the main entry on level 4.
