How to find accommodation

Where to live

Before you find your perfect accommodation, it’s a good idea to spend some time thinking about where you’d like to live.

Here are some things to consider when deciding which area is the right fit for you.

On campus or off campus?

Living on campus means:

  • being close to classes, lectures and tutorials
  • no need to commute, saving you money on transport
  • feeling a part of the vibrant campus community.

Living off campus might mean:

  • experiencing more of everyday life in Australia
  • exploring and learning about different areas
  • more independence.

Inner city or suburbs?

Another thing you may want to explore is whether you’re more interested in city living or a suburban escape.

Inner-city life in suburbs such as Ultimo, Haymarket or Chippendale offers:

  • the convenience of having everything on your doorstep
  • low or no commute time to work or university
  • plenty of fun things to see and do.

Living in suburbs like Parramatta, Chatswood, Burwood or Rockdale could mean:

  • more affordable options
  • a more comfortable, laid-back environment
  • a different experience of Australia (and a higher chance of seeing some of our cool native wildlife).
