Peer Network recruitment
We recruit twice a year, in:
- May/June (for Spring Orientation), and
- October/November (for Autumn Orientation)
To be notified when we open applications for Spring 2026 Orientation, please submit our Expression of Interest form on UTS CareerHub (login required).
Recruitment consists of an application, and if successful, a group interview. Students who succeed in both the application and interview will be invited to join us for our training days, then to volunteer for Orientation.
Training days 1 and 2
Training Day 1 is a full day training session for our new Peer Networkers (Newies). Volunteers will learn about the key transferrable skills of communication and leadership and complete a variety of fun activities to help them discover what they would like to improve across Orientation.
Training Day 1 only ever needs to be completed once.
Training Day 2 is for both our Newies and our current Peer Networkers (Oldies). It is a day of fun activities and team building, as well as a day to learn about the operational side of Orientation. Volunteers will learn about the tasks they will complete at Orientation, including how to run a campus tour and how to handle student enquiries.
Training Day 2 must be completed prior to each Orientation that a volunteer would like to attend.
Orientation for new students
- Two weeks before the start of Autumn session (February), and
- One week before the start of Spring session (July).
