1. Prize name: Dean’s List in Science
2. Purpose
The Dean's List in Science was established in 2025 and is designed to recognise the academic performance of science students from our undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
3. Value and benefit
3.1 Number of Recipients
There is no limit to the number of recipients for this award each year.
3.2 Benefit/s to Recipient
The award consists of a certificate and it will be recorded on the academic transcript of the student.
3.3 Payment of benefit/s
A certificate of award will be available to the Recipient for collection from the Faculty.
4. Eligibility criteria
The Recipient must:
- be enrolled as a student in a Science undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree in the year for which the award is made; and
- gain results for subjects with a value of 36 credit points or more of Science subjects in one academic year which starts from the beginning of the Autumn session to the end of the Summer session in the same availability year.
- where a student is undertaking a mid-year entry degree, the duration of an academic year is considered from the Spring session prior to the year of award to the end of Autumn session of the year for which the award is made.
5. Recipient selection criteria
- The student must achieve a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for the academic year of 85 or above.
- The WAM for each student will be calculated as the average of the marks, weighted according to credit point value, gained in all Science subjects for which a result is determined and declared in that academic year. The WAM will be calculated to two decimal places.
- Students who have received academic cautions or had a finding of misconduct made against them in the current or previous academic year will be ineligible.
6. Selection
- The Dean's List is compiled at the end of each academic year once final grades have been processed. Students who are enrolled in combined Science degree programs and who satisfy the requirements are also included irrespective of which Faculty offered the course; The recipients will be identified according to the eligibility and recipient selection criteria as provided in clauses 4 and 5;
- The nominated recipients will then be formally approved or declined by the Faculty Board in Science based upon the selection criteria in clauses 4 and 5.
