This webpage is for students who commenced prior to 2026 in the courses listed below:

  • C10276 Bachelor of Music and Sound Design
  • C10465 Bachelor of Music and Sound Design Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation
  • C10277 Bachelor of Music and Sound Design Bachelor of International Studies

UTS has developed a new Bachelor of Creative Production suite of courses in response to student and industry feedback, and as part of our normal five-year course reaccreditation cycle.

From 2026, students wishing to study Music and Sound Design at UTS will apply to undertake a Bachelor of Creative Production in Music and Sound Design.

What are the main changes in the new course?

  • Core subjects will change from 8 credit points to 6 credit points.
  • The major will be replaced with a stream comprising 8 x 6-credit-point subjects.
  • Students choose to complete two sub-majors and one elective, one sub-major and five electives, or nine electives.
  • Elective offerings will be 6 credit points rather than a mix of 6 and 8 credit points.

What does this mean for you?

The introduction of the new Bachelor of Creative Production will not impact your progression through the Music and Sound Design course you are currently completing. You will still be able to graduate from your current course.

No action is required from you.

You will remain in the current version of your course and will continue your studies as per the typical program published for the year you started your course.

  • Students who commenced in 2025 should refer to the 2025 course description via from the version dropdown under their course heading in the handbook (change the year dropdown to 2025).
2025 version
  • Students who commenced before 2025 should refer to the course description in the year they commenced in the Handbook Archives.

Some changes that you may see on your study plan

  • There may be name or code changes to subjects on your study plan. Where possible, we are making the same subject offerings to current students, so that they get to enjoy the same offerings as new students.
  • In addition, you may see some new elective offerings in your study plan.
