As an international student, you may need to make changes to your study program. At UTS, international students have to follow certain procedures when making these changes.

You must also inform the university when you move to Australia, change your address, or are granted permanent residency.

Information for scholarship recipients

If you currently receive a scholarship from UTS and wish to make changes to your study program, please refer to your scholarship Conditions of Award for any potential impact on your scholarship and your ongoing eligibility.

If you require any clarification, please contact UTS Scholarships via scholarships@uts.edu.au.

Academic advice

If you have any questions or problems that relate specifically to teaching and/or research programs, your faculty is the best point of contact. The staff member you speak to will depend on the nature of your inquiry. To find the right academic assistant staff member, visit the course and subject page.

If you believe you will be disadvantaged by your non-English speaking background, you can apply for special conditions in exams through HELPS.

Hi, my name is Vanessa Truong.

I'm starting my second year at UTS, doing Bachelor of Business Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation.  I'm from Vietnam.

Studying at university in a new country can be quite challenging because different educational systems expect different skills and results from students. Therefore, it's not about how smart you are or what are you capable of. It's about how well you adapt to a new system smoothly.

I remember during my first assignment, I was so stressed and disoriented. It was just a 200 essay. But for someone who hadn't done any academic writing or referencing before, it was quite a struggle. And I'm so grateful that UTS have so many support services that helped me so much during that transitional period. My advice would be to get to know the many support services UTS has to offer. The services are all on campus and most of them are free.

UTS HELPS offers a range of services which help you improve your academic English, get help with your writing assignments, or understanding the subject guidelines better. They also have the buddy program where you'll match up with a current student at UTS which helps you a lot with your conversational English skills. You can drop in any time at UTS tower building on level 5, or visit our website for more information.

U:PASS is an UTS program to help students with difficult subjects. At U:PASS, you meet with the senior students who have done well on the subject you need help with. It's a very relaxed and friendly environment where you can get advices on how to succeed. I found U:PASS very helpful throughout my first year. It helped me understand in details what I didn't have time to analyse during my lectures and tutorials. And moreover, it's a good way to find and bond with a study buddy. I always went with a friend and it helped us both a lot with our motivation to get the assignments well done.

UTS offers a range of free health and well-being services, including a medical service, counselling, multi-faith chaplaincy, and more. You can visit the website for more information.

Remember, if you're in trouble and don't know where to go, UTS international is here for you. You can visit them at international student centre on level 3A of the tower building, or give them a call.

Good luck!
