Your SSAF Committee student representatives
Mia Campbell
President, UTS Students' Association
As the President of the UTS Students’ Association, I lead an organisation that is one of the many recipients of SSAF funding at UTS. It’s important to me that SSAF funds are allocated and used transparently, productively and with a continuous priority of improving the student experience at UTS. By championing initiatives and services that cater to the diverse needs of our student body, UTS can best ensure its students are adequately supported throughout their time at university.
Varshani Gousihan
President, ActivateUTS
SSAF funding plays an important role in giving students a say in how their university experience is shaped. I see it as a chance to support initiatives that are meaningful to students and contribute to a more engaging and inclusive campus. Through ActivateUTS, I’m committed to representing student priorities, turning feedback into action and using this responsibility to help create positive and lasting change across campus.
Chloe Ferreira
Undergraduate Student Representative on UTS Council
As a senior UTS student representative, I believe it is vital that SSAF funds are allocated with transparency and efficiency, guided by the collective needs and priorities of the student body. Across the diverse recipients, which include both student-led and university managed groups, my priority is to ensure these funds are distributed fairly, without duplication or inefficiency, so that every student at UTS experiences meaningful benefits. As one of the few representatives not affiliated with any SSAF-funded group, I provide an independent student voice, dedicated to advancing a more inclusive, engaging, and enriching student experience.

2025 SSAF Survey results
In 2025, more than 500 students shared their voice on how the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) shapes their student experience at UTS. While 79% of you knew what SSAF was, the survey showed there is less awareness of how SSAF funding is allocated across UTS. 60% of students were unfamiliar to some degree with how SSAF funding is allocated and used across UTS, highlighting a gap between general awareness of SSAF and understanding where the funding goes. The survey gave you an opportunity to tell us how you use SSAF-funded services and where you would like to see the funding prioritised in the future.
Overall, 52% of students were satisfied to some extend with the current SSAF allocations, while 25% were neutral. Similarly, 51% felt that current SSAF funding was meeting their needs as a student. Findings from the 2025 survey demonstrated the importance of everyday campus services and amenities to students – especially subsidised food and drink, student clubs and societies, and study spaces around campus.
When asked about future investment, you told us that you wanted to see continued support for everyday essentials, alongside expanded support for career, health, and welfare services. See below graph for full list of priorities.
Based on your feedback, we listened. In 2026, UTS allocated additional funding to priorities identified through the survey, including an additional $70,000 to the UTSSA for free food initiatives, as well as more funds for accessible menstrual products around campus and health and welfare support.
