I look forward to each and every Orientation because it is so amazing to see UTS students from all faculties confidently taking students on tours, staffing the helpdesk, and just having fun!
Sarah Graham - Peer Network Coordinator
The Peer Network are a bunch of students
who volunteer their time to help out
during orientation the Peer Network is
where both local and international
students from both UTS campuses and
we're very approachable people and we're
here to make you feel welcome we try and
give them a tour of UTS where on campus
tours we show them places they might
need to go for enrollment anything that
they might have questions being in a new
place you can find the peernetworkers on
campus is at the help desk or you can find
us at the network cafe
so that's on Thursdays at the concourse
cafe the best thing about peer network
is that you get to meet a great group of
friends who all share similar interest
to you both engaging with the UTS
community and you get to hang out with
them in and outside of University the
best piece of advice I have for a new
student would be to definitely have a
positive attitude and don't be afraid to
say hi to another new student because
they are probably feeling in the same
position as you so to say hi and be
proactive and positive so what we've got
and stuff the new students is a lot of
snacks lots of friendly faces around but
also something a little extra we
The Peer Network is a team of current UTS students who assist commencing students with the initial transition to university. We’re an energetic, outgoing and friendly group dedicated to make university life for new students as easy as possible. Since its foundation in 1998, the number of Peer Networkers has grown to over 350 students.
Helping new students can involve leading campus tours, staffing the Orientation helpdesk and coffee cart, mingling at official welcomes, answering questions, and more. Peer Networkers also assist students at a variety of Student Services Unit events, such as the Network Café.
Being a Peer Networker comes with a range of benefits, including training, special events, certificates and recommendations, networking advantages and, of course, the famed orange t-shirt.
We are all current students, so don’t hesitate to approach us with any questions you may have about the university – just look out for our instantly-recognisable bright orange t-shirts...
