Process for establishing international agreements
UTS has an established process to develop MOUs and Agreements with international partners. The process varies depending on the nature of the MOU or agreement and the activities involved. UTS faculties, institutes and central units – such as UTS International (UTSI) and the Research Office (RO) – work collaboratively to support the establishment or renewal of MOUs and agreements. The process involves seven key steps:
- Internal consultation
- Due diligence and risk assessment
- Compliance with Foreign Arrangements Scheme (if applicable) – in some instances, UTS must notify DFAT of the intention to establish an agreement, and again when it is signed.
- Approval to proceed
- Agreement drafting and negotiation
- Signature – the nature of the MOU determines who has delegation to sign
- Central record keeping, communication and informing relevant teams
