The UTS Accounting Department supports one of the most comprehensive and unique range of additional student development programs. These programs support students to be career-ready, innovative, technologically savvy, and socially responsible and advances exceptionally skilled graduates for a range of accounting, advisory business analytics careers.

Excellence in Accounting and Business Analytics

The Excellence in Accounting and Business Analytics awards program recognises the top-performing students and distinguishes awardees as high achievers with evident aptitude and ability to succeed. 

Awardees are presented with an excellence award and invited to ceremony events held in their honour. Award ceremonies focus on networking with industry experts and special guests, personal brand and profile building and discovery of career and education opportunities. The key goal is to provide students with recognition and a tangible achievement to support students fulfil their ambitions.

UTS Beta Alpha Psi

is considered one of the student-led leadership programs in the UTS Business School.

Beta Alpha Psi is an internationally recognised honour organisation for high achieving accounting, finance and business analytics and digital technology students and professionals.

With over 300 chapters worldwide, UTS Beta Alpha Psi is one of a select few chapters ranked ‘superior’ internationally. Its aims include;

  1. develop members into ethical, professional, and confident business leaders of the future.
  2. contribute to the wider community.

UTS Case Team Competitions

The UTS Case Team is a UTS Business School initiative that provides student teams the opportunity to travel to global destinations, and work to produce solutions to real-world business problems set by industry and compete against other university teams with panels of expert judges. Case Team participants:

  • Solve real business problems with creative solutions.
  • Travel Internationally to represent UTS in case competitions.
  • Make industry connections and long-lasting friendships.
  • Develop the skills for a career in consulting or advisory.

To support the graduate pipeline and create more interactive training, UTS Case Team provides a range of initiatives run in conjunction with sponsor organisations from prestigious consulting firms including Macquarie Bank and Kearney.

UTS Case Team

Since 2021, the UTS Case Team has run the annual UTS Global Case Competition which see the welcoming of student delegates and faculty advisors from the top universities around the world to work on 6-Hour and 24-Hour cases and deliver their unique strategic recommendations. In 2023, 56 delegates from 14 universities travelled to Sydney to compete in cases based on real-life business problems provided by sponsors QBE Insurance and GrainCorp.

UTS and IBISWorld 3P Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program

The 3P (People, Planet, Profit) program supports creative and innovative business ideas, and participants a chance to win a share of $25,000 in prize money. Participants are mentored by highly regarded industry experts who discuss startup ideas and support the development of their 3Pitch.

Participants develop new, innovative products/ideas or services associated with the 3P philosophy (People, Planet, Profit) to fulfil their entrepreneurial ambitions and develop real business ventures!
