Professor Debra Anderson is UTS’s Dean of the Faculty of Health. Debra brings significant experience and is recognised as being a visionary, supportive and inclusive leader who engages teams in strategic goals, empowers leaders to take accountability, and brings measurable success leading to transformation.

Professor Debra Anderson

As Dean of the Faculty of Health, her vision is to enable colleagues to work towards transforming health and wellbeing across the lifespan influencing policy and clinical practice.

The Dean Faculty of Health key responsibilities are:

  • Leading the implementation of the Faculty Strategic Plan identifying key focus areas that are aligned to the UTS Strategic Initiatives
  • Leading the faculty in the focus areas of International, research, strengthening our Indigenous profile and people and culture
  • Leading the strategic focus on partnership and collaboration within and external to the Health group and university, and
  • Ensuring the business as usual is attended to in compliance with risk, health and safety, and equity and diversity.

Debra joined the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2019 as the Associate Dean Research and now serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Health. She also concurrently holds a Distinguished Professor with Vin University in Vietnam and a visiting Professor with Kings College London.  

Prior to her appointment at UTS, Debra served as Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University and the Director of the Women’s Wellness Research Program at the Menzies Health Research Institute. Debra also served as Chronic Disease Research Coordinator at the Institute of Biomedical Innovation and Director of Research in the School of Nursing at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane Australia. 

Debra’s area of expertise is in chronic disease and women’s health. As Founding Director of the Women’s Wellness Research Collaborative, she has mentored a growing network of researchers spread across six countries and almost a dozen universities, researching a wide gamut of women’s health issues.

Debra has completed leadership programs from Harvard Business School, and the University of Melbourne Business School. Debra has been a member of many government, professional and industry boards, and committees both Nationally and Internationally. She is currently the Co-Secretary General, Global Network of WHO CCs for Nursing and Midwifery and Health Development.
