World-leading campus and facilities
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is located at UTS City campus, within easy walking distance of Central Station and the Sydney CBD. It's also located within the creative industries ‘inner city triangle’, the location of 39 per cent of Australia’s creative industry head offices.
The Engineering and IT Building opened to staff and students in mid-2014. It aims to bring new spaces to life to support both informal and formal learning experiences, providing a vibrant environment where students and staff collaborate and engage. It also includes spaces that cultivate the invaluable relationship between industry, student and researcher.
The building houses the UTS Data Arena, a 360-degree interactive data visualisation facility with 40m of 3D screens, set to change the way we view and interact with data.
Behind the impressive binary screens that spell out ‘University of Technology Sydney Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology’ reveals a living, breathing structure set to transform research, teaching and learning. The building is in itself a living, breathing laboratory, embedded with wireless sensors to monitor temperature, air quality, noise, and dust particles.
Its sustainable features include a roof-top wind turbine, solar panels and concentrating troughs, water recycling and recharging stations for UTS's battery-powered cars. The roof-top renewable plant is capable of powering 20% of the building's energy needs.
The Engineering and IT Building has transformed the local precinct and provides a dramatic new gateway to the UTS City campus and downtown Sydney. More about our facilities and location
