I'm studying a Bachelor of IT Co op at UTS and I'm currently interning at TAL.
I got this internship by playing through the Co-op programme.
The Co-op programme is essentially a three year degree and embedded into it is 2 internships that are 6 months each so you get to have industry experience.
My placement at TAL has made my course a lot more relevant and exciting because I
get to see what I learn being applied to the real world.
It has taught me how to collaborate with people from various backgrounds and
perspectives and through that I feel a lot more confident and prepared stepping into the workforce.
Joy has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She embodies all the qualities that I would look for in a team member.
She's intelligent, she's self motivated, and she's very positive.
I love having the opportunity to help these students to build their resilience and to transition to full time employment.
Industry support is extremely important for students pursuing a career in tech.
Just having that early exposure in through industry placements really help them know what they want to do.

Hi, my name is Dylan Coyne. I'm a UTS Alumni  and founder of updoc. I am an alumni at the  
UTS BIT Co-op program and it was one of the  most pivotable experiences of my life. I saw  
on those placements sponsors were able to  get a lot of value out of the students.   I really learnt a lot through that program. I  wasn't seen just as an intern or as a student,  
but as a functioning member of the team.  It's given me great skills and experience   whilst working on classes, learning about how  technology can be applied in the real world,  
and then into founding updoc it allowed me to  have the confidence and experience to want to   branch out and start my own thing. I think it's  really important to have these partnerships as  
what it does is it allows students to have  hands-on practical experience and that will   allow them to be a more well-rounded person  and have a more successful life and career.

The UTS Co-op Scholarship programme supports our talent pipeline by introducing us to high quality individuals that could join our graduate programme down the track.
It also gives us a chance to see their skills first hand.
It's a great way to identify future talents early and to build that relationship before they graduate.
