electriclime° and UTS launch Grace Rached Internship program
electriclime° have partnered with University of Technology Sydney launch a new internship program in memory of Media Arts Production alum Grace Rached
Grace Rached was a UTS graduate with a Bachelor of Communication in Media Arts and Production, and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
A passionate and hard-working multi-media storyteller, Grace had pursued an internship with production house electriclime°. She so impressed the team there that she was offered a job as a Production Assistant, working on projects for clients such as Durex, Clipsal, Air+, Diablo and Betr.
Grace's joyful, uplifting and warm spirit emanated throughout the Sydney electriclime° office and on-set. Intelligent, kind and talented, Grace proved in her work that she had an immensely bright future in the filmmaking industry.
Tragically, Grace lost her life in the horrific incident in Seoul in October 2022. In memory of Grace, electriclime° have collaborated with Grace's family and UTS Media Arts and Production to establish a three-month internship program that will give students from UTS the opportunity to get first-hand experience in production and grow their skills as they take their early steps in the industry.
electriclime° Executive Producer Shahn Devendran remembers the professionalism and kindness that Grace always showed at work.
“Grace was always so generous with her time and knowledge, so we see this as the perfect opportunity to keep her legacy alive. We hope through this program her peers are able to gain first-hand experience in high-end commercial film, so they too can build a promising future in the industry.”
Grace’s mother Joan spoke about Grace's enthusiasm about working at electriclime°.
"Grace often spoke about the countless learning experiences she gained while working both as an intern and production assistant for electriclime°. Her passion for the film industry was evident while she worked at there. As a result of this experience, Grace was more excited than ever to pursue a career in film production and felt well-equipped to leave an impression on the industry."
Joan said,
We are humbled by the Grace Rached Internship being awarded in her name and continuing her legacy. We hope this internship has the same positive impact on future candidates as it did on Grace, and in turn our lives.
After several talented candidates were put forward by the university, electriclime° have selected Jenna Parker to be the first intern in the new program.
“I feel really grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion for film and realise my dream of working in the industry through the Grace Rached Internship Program. I hope to gain invaluable skills and experience through exposure to commercial productions,” Jenna said.
Also in recognition of Grace and her work, here is the Director's Cut of BETR, the last project Grace worked on with electriclime°. It has been provided with permission from electriclime° and includes a subtle, tender tribute to Grace. Watch it with sound on.
