English language requirements

Number two (2)

Finding a supervisor and confirming supervisor's support

Finding a supervisor whose research interests align with yours is the next important step in your research degree journey!

Before applying, all candidates must secure the agreement of an academic supervisor from the faculty for the duration of their intended studies. Explore connections based on research area or by name at find a supervisor.

Arrange an interview with your potential supervisor to discuss your proposed research project and the university resources available for it to go ahead. After the consultation, a research proposal must be finalised before submitting an application. International Candidates who wish to be considered for UTS Competitive scholarships, further information/documents may be requested by your nominated supervisor to assist with determining their support.

Additional requirements for UTS International Competitive Scholarship and CSC Scholarship applicants

All international student applications submitted during the Competitive Scholarship Rounds and CSC UTS PhD scholarship applicants require the EOI (Expression of Interest) process. Your nominated supervisor needs to confirm their support for your UTS Competitive Scholarship application and complete the EOI form via the faculty/schools’ internal process. Once the EOI is approved, you will be invited to submit a formal application via UTS's application portal. You must upload the email invitation you received while you complete the application form.

The nominated supervisors for FEIT CSC applicants are to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to their schools by 08 November 2024. Please visit the Application closing dates website to learn more about the details of the CSC application process.
