Building upon our academic excellence and innovation, UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is creating strong partnerships in India.

The Faculty engages higher education and industry partners through joint research and research student/academic exchange. Joining forces enables the consolidation of expertise and ideas for global reach, training opportunities and advances in research.

Exciting partner initiatives

The current key activities across partnerships include:

  • joint research centres
  • articulation programs
  • joint PhD programs
  • short course delivery.

Digital transformation is the research focus, in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, internet of things (IoT), character and video recognition, and blockchain.

Future areas of collaboration have been identified as joint programs, internships and an industry doctorate program.

Partnerships in India

Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Recognised as an Institute of National Importance, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is the top engineering institute in India. UTS and IIT Madras are Key Technology Partners and have a Joint Research Centre and a collaborative PhD program in place.

Indian Statistical Institute

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is one of the foremost centres in the world for training and research in computer science, statistics, quantitative economics and related sciences. UTS and ISI in Kolkata have a strong and enduring collaborative relationship, which includes the ISI–UTS joint research cluster on artificial intelligence.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Patna)

IIT Patna is emerging as a key hub for engineering and technology education in India and recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. Collaborations with UTS are strengthening, with plans for joint research programs and active research partnerships aimed at advancing digital transformation and innovation. It plays a key role in fostering innovation and contributing to India's technological growth.

Vellore Institute of Technology

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a progressive educational institute dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, and is recognised as an Institution of Eminence. UTS is growing its collaborative partnership with VIT, which extends across education teaching and learning, and research.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University

Amrita is a multi-disciplinary, research-intensive, private university, educating a vibrant student population of over 20,000 by 1700+ strong faculty. Amrita offers more than 200 UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Management, Medical & Life Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Social Sciences. In a short span of 15 years, we have established 180+ collaborations with Top 500 world ranked universities as Amrita is emerging as one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in India.

International Centre for Applied Sciences Manipal (ICAS Manipal)

The International Centre for Applied Sciences (ICAS) at Manipal Academy of Higher Education offers unique International Transfer Programmes. Students can complete the first two years of their studies in India at Manipal Academy of Higher Education and then have the opportunity to transfer their credits and pursue the remaining two years at the UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT.

Kings Cornerstone International College (KCIC)

KCIC is a Pearson-accredited partner that offers international qualifications with pathways to designated study abroad programmes. Students have the opportunity to start their degree locally at KCIC in Chennai and complete it globally at the at the UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT.
