Digital app prototype: Parronting

Rachel He, Sarah Lee, Giffie Ngo

Parronting is the ultimate social networking app dedicated to people who love parrots. Connect with a community of parrot lovers from sharing the best and funniest moments of your feathered friends, to exchanging tips and experiences with other parrot pals. Parronting is not only the perfect place to engage with the parrot community but is also the easiest way to find a new home or to breed your parrots through the inclusion of a 'nest listings' page.

Subject: Digital Publishing for Apps.

This app project was an extremely valuable learning experience, as it not only allowed me to obtain a deeper insight into the design thinking processes of creating an app, but also developed my professional skills in team collaboration. This project also provided us with the opportunity to enhance our skill set through the use of ‘Sketch’ and 'Proto.io'.  - Rachel He

I loved the whole process of creating the app prototype, where I had developed skills while learning how to use various design tools, and gained collaborative skills while working as a team. The process of developing this project also enabled me to practice the skills of thinking from a user’s point of view, which I really enjoyed. - Sarah Lee

Taking part in the rapid prototype project enriched my understanding of what constitutes an effective, user centric design from both a functional and aesthetic lense. Mainly a trial and error process, but working on the prototype taught me that less is more and that sometimes, designers must compromise scope for a better user experience.  - Giffie Ngo
