Top 5 places to chill around the UTS campus

As your assessments and workloads begin to build, it’s important to take time to chill on campus. Whether you are in-between classes, or finished for the day, there is bound to be a place at UTS for you to relax. Without further ado, here is a list of locations you must visit to mellow out. Who knows, you might find your new favourite chill-out spot!

The Terrace

The Terrace, one of UTS’ most picturesque cafes, has earned itself a spot on the top 5 list of places to chill. Separated into two cafes, The Terrace can provide you with all of your food and beverage related needs, including alcohol! You can find the café on Level 3 at UTS Central (Tower 2), right beside the Alumni Green. The Terrace is home to an extensive menu comprised of all sorts of savory and sweet options – and specials, in case you’re looking to spend less, but eat well. Their coffee kiosk is located on Level 7 of UTS Central. Next time you’re looking to chill on campus, visit The Terrace!

Outdoor ping-pong tables

Outdoor ping pong tables

Moving away from a food related chill space, the outdoor ping pong tables are a fantastic way to chill out while remaining active. If you’re in the mood to forget about your assessments for a minute, check out the tables which are located right beside the Alumni Green. You can grab equipment from the ActivateHQ desk on Level 3 of UTS Tower (Tower 1), as long as you provide your student ID card. Let’s be real, only a few of us are fairly good ping-pong players. However, something about playing a game of ping-pong is very stress relieving!

The Loft at UTS

This one is for those of you who are staying back at UTS until the evening and are in need of a place to unwind. Open on Wednesday - Friday from 4pm - 9pm, The Loft provides the perfect atmosphere for chilling with friends. It’s a hidden bar, but I’ll provide you with the location: Building 9, just behind 2SER, right off of Broadway. Also, The Loft has some pretty cool Weekly Specials, most of which include pizza and alcohol. Can you think of a better way to chill out?

The Penny Lane Café and Bar

We’re featuring another café on this list, because cafes really are the perfect place to chill out, right? If your favourite way to relax is to be surrounded with high-quality meals, then Penny Lane is the place to be. Their menu features all types of breakfast, lunch and bar type meals, and they taste just as incredible as they photograph. There are many vegetarian and vegan options to try at Penny Lane, and we can’t forget about the drinks! Whether you’re after a cocktail, a milkshake, or anything in-between, Penny Lane has got you covered. They’re located at Building 11, Level 1/81-117 Broadway. Make sure to pop in and chill out!

Beanbag pods at UTS Library

We shouldn’t forget those of you who want to chill out but study at the same time! If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing place to complete your work, highly recommended are the beanbag pods in UTS Library (Building 2). They’re located in Levels 5 to 8. The pods are super comfortable, and what is probably the most important thing - they won’t hurt your neck and back! Also, they come in different colours depending on which level you’re on. A chill space that’s both comfortable and aesthetic? It almost sounds too good for be true!
