Building motivation and reaching your goals
University comes with huge opportunities, changes and challenges. It’s a time to finally study what we want, to begin self-directed learning, and to meet new people with like-minded interests. However, research and conversations tell us that in response to COVID-19, many university students are finding it hard to keep on track and motivated with their studies. With many of us spending more time studying and working from home, it’s understandable to be feeling isolated, unmotivated and disengaged.
Research from Swinburne University has confirmed the enormous impact COVID-19 is having on the mental health of young people. Results showed high levels of anxiety and depression in young people and concerning levels of pessimism about the future. With unemployment on the rise, this pressure on young people is only predicted to worsen.
Although there are challenges, there are also supports available to help you stay engaged with your university goals. Coming Back Stronger is an online workshop that aims to proactively help you get back on track with your studies, by providing evidence-based psychological strategies that improve motivation, energy, focus and optimism for the future.
