UTS consolidates its global standing with 15 subjects being placed in the top 100 in the world in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
The standout result was capped by UTS being ranked in the top 50 in the world for three subjects – with nursing ranked 1st in Australia and 16th in the world, sports-related subjects 36th in the world (7th in Australia), and data science and artificial intelligence 45th in the world (4th in Australia).
UTS was placed between 51st and 100th in the world for a further 12 subjects. These included art and design (3rd in Australia), electrical engineering (4th), information systems (4th), civil and structural engineering (5th), and architecture and built environment (5th).
These rankings showcase the work of UTS’s world-class academics who are working to deliver outstanding education programs for their students and impactful research that will improve the way in which we live and work.
UTS was ranked for a total of 33 subjects in this edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject with an overall ranking of 77th for engineering and technology subjects (up from 107th in 2025) and 101st for social sciences and management (up from 150th in 2025).
In developing their rankings across 55 subjects, QS analysed almost 6,277 higher education institutions across 166 countries. They use five key metrics to compile the subject rankings: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and H-index (a measure of scholarly output).
The 15 subjects UTS placed in the top 100 in the world with global ranking (and Australian ranking) are:
- Nursing – 16th (1st)
- Sports-related subjects – 36th (7th)
- Data science and artificial intelligence – 45th (4th)
- Computer science and information systems – 55th (6th)
- Electrical and electronic engineering – 64th (4th)
- Pharmacy and pharmacology – 68th (6th)
- Law – 75th (8th)
- Art and design – 85th (3rd)
- Environmental sciences – 86th (8th)
- Mathematics – 88th (6th)
- Accounting and finance – 98th (10th)
- Architecture and built environment – 51st-100th (5th)
- Civil and structural engineering – 51st-100th (5th)
- Library and information management – 51st-100th (4th)
- Mineral and mining engineering – 51st-100th (10th)
