Associate Professor Andrew Care
Director

Andrew leads the strategic development of the UTS Biologics Innovation Facility (BIF), with a focus on biopharmaceutical manufacturing, translational R&D, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-aligned workforce training and education. He works across industry, government and academia to drive BIF’s contribution to advancing Australia’s life sciences sector and strengthening sovereign biopharma manufacturing capability. Andrew also serves as Director of the GMP Workforce Program within the NSW RNA Research & Training Network (NSW-RRTN), supporting skills development in GMP biomanufacturing across NSW and the ACT. Alongside his BIF leadership role, Andrew is an active researcher developing and translating nanoparticle-based platforms for drug delivery and vaccinology.

Sushil Gupta
Technical Manager

Sushil oversees technical operations at the Biologics Innovation Facility (BIF) at UTS, collaborating with industry and research partners to deliver practical bioprocessing and manufacturing solutions. With over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, he has led process development and manufacturing programs across Australia and India, including within Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisations (CDMOs). His expertise spans biosimilars, novel biologics and live biotherapeutic products, with strengths in process development, technology transfer, scale-up, GMP manufacturing and CMC support. Having contributed to the development of more than 10 therapeutic molecules, Sushil provides technical leadership across facility operations, quality systems and client projects.

Dr Isabella Hajduk
Training & Skills Lead

Isabella is the Training and Skills Lead at the BIF, where she develops training initiatives that support capability-building within the biotherapeutics sector. With a PhD in molecular biotechnology and experience in scientific research, education and workforce development, she works with industry, government and academic partners to design practical, industry-relevant blended learning experiences. Her work spans bioprocessing, GMP manufacturing and advanced therapeutics, translating complex scientific concepts into accessible training that prepares learners for real-world biomanufacturing environments. Isabella is passionate about strengthening Australia's biomanufacturing workforce and supporting the continued growth of the sector.

Kristine Flores
Upstream

Kristine specialises in mammalian cell culture and upstream bioprocessing at the BIF, supporting the establishment, optimisation and scale-up of cell culture processes for biologics production. Her expertise spans cell line maintenance, transfection, process optimisation and bioreactor operations. Working closely with the BIF team, Kristine contributes to manufacturing activities, client projects and hands-on training programs, helping translate laboratory processes into scalable biomanufacturing workflows.

Dr Chi Pham
Analytics

Chi leads the BIF’s analytical characterisation and quality control activities for biopharmaceutical products. With a background in pharmacy and a PhD in Chemistry, she has extensive experience in protein purification, analytical development and advanced analytical techniques, including UHPLC, mass spectrometry and biological assays. Chi supports both in-process and final product testing, while leading environmental monitoring and contamination control programs that help ensure compliance with GMP principles and quality standards across the facility.

Dr Daniel Bouzo
Business Development Manager

Daniel is the Business Development Manager for the BIF, where he works closely with the BIF team to translate client needs into practical solutions. With a background in molecular microbiology and hands-on experience in biotech IVD product development and manufacture, he engages with industry and research partners to define requirements and align them with BIF’s capabilities, whether through contract services, facility access or tailored training programs. Daniel supports the team to ensure projects are scoped effectively and delivered in a way that accelerates development within a GMP-simulated biomanufacturing environment.
