How to partner with us
In addressing the key challenges in ageing and aged care in Australia, UARC works with many partners. We are keen to hear from others interested in collaborating with us, whether from industry, not-for-profits, government or other research institutions.
Senior UARC members have been appointed to independent positions to advise the Federal Government on aged care, and we often meet with senior executives in the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the Office of the Inspector General of Aged Care, and the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority.
In industry, we collaborate with chartered accountancy firm StewartBrown to produce the Aged Care Sector Reports, and on research into aged care policy, funding, management and operational issues.
Other key industry partners include the not-for-profit organisation Uniting NSW.ACT, with whom we work closely on a range of research projects, and HammondCare, which is currently supporting research into in-home care.
In addition, we collaborate closely on key projects with industry bodies such as Ageing Australia, COTA Australia and OPAN.

Our approach
UARC focuses on translating the activity and results of research into practice by undertaking transdisciplinary research. Transdisciplinary research differs from multidisciplinary research where disciplines work in parallel or interdisciplinary research where disciples interact to create shared methods. Transdisciplinary research combines and synthesises theories, concepts and methods from different disciplines to form a new approach for research. It reflects the following characteristics.

Problem focus
Explicitly oriented to solving complex and wicked problems.

Integration
Disciplines, frameworks, theories, methods and findings are integrated into a whole that is more than the sum of the parts. It transcends and integrates human as well as natural systems.

Collaboration
The integration of researchers from multiple disciplines, as well as practitioners, industry, government and users.

Co-production
Knowledge is co-produced between the collaborating stakeholders from problem formation to solution and implementation.

Socially responsible
The focus of research is to produce knowledge that is oriented toward social justice.
