Dr Xin Xu is an Adjunct Fellow at the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS:ACRI).
She is an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Research for Educational Impact (REDI), Deakin University.
Her research examines Australia–China engagement in higher education and research, with particular interests in international research collaboration, international students, higher education policy, and the geopolitics of higher education. She is currently leading a Deakin University-funded research project investigating Australia–China research collaboration, examining how researchers navigate opportunities, risks, and governance in an increasingly complex global environment.
Dr Xu has an established publication record across monographs, book chapters, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Her work has appeared in leading international journals, including Higher Education, Studies in Higher Education, Higher Education Research & Development, and the Journal of International Students. Her research has also informed wider public and policy discussions through commentaries published in University World News, PIE News, and other academic and professional media outlets.
