Dr Frank Yuan is an Adjunct Fellow at the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS:ACRI).

Dr Yuan is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australia Institute. He has previously worked at the Lowy Institute as a research assistant, and a history lecturer at the University of Sydney. His doctoral dissertation examined Australia's policy towards China between 1949 and 1990. At the Australia Institute, his work has focused on Chinese foreign policy, especially South China Sea, US-China relations, and Australia-China relations.

As well as publications with the Australia Institute, Dr Yuan has written for the Lowy Interpreter and The Australian Financial Review. He also published an academic journal article about Australia's trade with China at the height of the Cold War, based on a part of his PhD thesis. He has also provided commentary on Australian foreign policy and Australia-China relations in interviews with the ABC.

Aside from his expertise in Australian diplomatic history and Chinese foreign policy, Dr Yuan has developed significant interest in China's contemporary economic and technological development.
