Two Westpac Scholars Trust programs take leadership beyond disciplines and borders.

Effective leadership requires the confidence to move beyond what is familiar – to engage with different perspectives, forge new connections and navigate a rapidly changing world.

This is the opportunity the Westpac Scholars Trust will provide to talented UTS students through the Westpac Tech Futures Scholarship and Westpac Australia-Asia Fellowship. One supports outstanding final-year undergraduate STEM students to develop the leadership and networks needed to shape Australia’s future through technology and innovation. The other supports both undergraduate and postgraduate students who have completed a learning abroad program in the Asia Pacific to build Australia’s next generation of Asia-capable leaders, growing their understanding of the cultures, ideas and relationships shaping our region.

Partnering with Westpac Scholars Trust is a natural fit for UTS. We share an ambition to back talented people, foster innovation and develop the next generation of leaders who can create solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.

Leadership beyond borders

UTS and the Westpac Scholars Trust share a passion for giving students the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom, immersing themselves in new experiences that build confidence, broaden perspectives and inspire what comes next.

UTS is delighted to be one of a select few universities chosen by the Westpac Scholars Trust to deliver these scholarships to some of our outstanding students.

For recipients, this support is not only in the financial value - it is the opportunity to activate and test their learning in immersive experiences and build their networks.

Valued at $20,000, Westpac Tech Futures Scholars will participate in leadership development, technology and innovation experiences, online learning and two residential programs. They will learn from researchers and industry leaders while exploring how technology, leadership and innovation intersect.

Westpac Australia-Asia Fellows will develop their regional capability through cultural immersion experiences in four countries as part of a 9-month leadership development program. Valued at $16,000, they’ll also gain access to thought leaders working at the interface of Australia’s relationship with the Asia Pacific.

All recipients get the chance to attend the Westpac Scholars Summit and become lifelong members of the W100 Scholars Network, which now has over 1000 scholars, creating connections that continue well beyond the programs.

Going further together

Westpac Scholars Trust programs offer exciting opportunities for students to explore leadership beyond traditional boundaries.

We are thrilled to offer these two opportunities to UTS students from 2027. Westpac Scholars are united by a commitment to something greater than themselves: the future of Australia. Every scholarship we award is an investment in the kind of future we all want to see.

Amy Lyden , CEO of the Westpac Scholars Trust

Established in 2015, the Westpac Scholars Trust awards 100 scholarships a year, forever, helping students develop not only the knowledge to succeed, but the confidence and leadership capabilities to help shape Australia’s future.
