UTS ranked first in Artificial intelligence

UTS demonstrates its leadership across a range of future-focused technologies by No. 1 rankings

The Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute (AAII) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is proud to celebrate that UTS was ranked No. 1 in Australia for Artificial Intelligence in the newly released 2026 Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).

The 2026 rankings represent a significant achievement for UTS, with 16 disciplines ranked among the world's top 100, highlighting the University's growing international reputation for research excellence and real-world impact.

In addition to Artificial Intelligence, UTS was ranked No. 1 in Australia for Robotics Science and Engineering and No. 1 in Australia for Instrument Science and Technology, demonstrating the University's leadership across a range of future-focused technologies.

For the AAII, the top national ranking in Artificial Intelligence is strong recognition of the outstanding work of our researchers, students, industry partners, and collaborators. The Institute has been at the forefront of advancing trustworthy, responsible, and human-centred AI, while driving innovations that deliver tangible benefits to society, industry, and government.
