Sparking a new era of development through evidence and collaboration

In July, the RDI Network’s Exchange 25 Conference brought together over 130 presenters and hundreds of changemakers from across Australia and the Indo-Pacific for two fast-paced days of connection, collaboration, and courageous conversations.

With a focus on Driving Better Development Through Evidence and Collaboration, the event broke the mould of traditional conferences — offering interactive panels, hands-on workshops, and space for real dialogue.

Keynotes tackled big issues like decolonising development, transforming partnerships, and navigating a shifting development landscape.

Organised by the Research for Development Impact Network and the Institute for Sustainable Futures at UTS, with support from partners like DFAT, KONEKSI, and Monash University, Exchange 25 was built on a foundation of inclusion.

The program featured voices from all career stages, ensuring a rich mix of experience and innovation. As ISF’s Dr Keren Winterford put it, “It’s not just about exchanging ideas. It’s about building your support crew.”

Exchange 25 wasn’t just about learning. It was about building networks, sparking innovation, and shaping a more inclusive, evidence-driven future.

And if you missed a session? No worries — every keynote, panel, and breakout is now available on the RDI Network YouTube channel.

Exchange 25 proved that when we come together — across borders, disciplines, and perspectives—we can drive better development. The conversations started here will ripple out across the region, shaping a more inclusive, evidence-driven future for all.
