The UTS Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS) has again proven to be at the forefront of quality tertiary education, with the discipline of Education rising to =69th in the world by The 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The ranking, which was announced overnight, assessed more than 1000 universities using a range of criteria including teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. Of the universities that offer a course in Education, UTS ranked 3rd in Sydney and 6th in Australia.
International outlook was a strong performing component for UTS Education, which is evidence of our ability to attract both students and academics from around the world. UTS Education also performed well in the pillar of industry income, which measures a university’s ability to assist industry with innovations, inventions and consultancy.
Head of School, Professor Lesley Harbon, commented that she is “delighted with the rise in rankings this year.”

This is a particularly impressive result for a young university. Earlier this year, all three schools within FASS were ranked 1st in Australia by The 2018 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. Globally, UTS ranked 8th in Education, 11th in Communication and 11th in International Studies.
The steady rise in international rankings across all of our disciplines is evidence of our growing research reputation, international connections and employers’ regard for our graduates.
