As a contribution to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Midterm Review in the Pacific, this research captures the pathway for community resilience that promotes and integrates gender and social inclusion (GESI). Examples of best practice of GESI integration in the Pacific are showcased in the report, along with common themes, gaps and priority areas for future efforts to reach the expected outcomes and goals of the Sendai Framework.

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in the Pacific coordinated several thematic reviews as part of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Midterm Review to document progress towards implementation of the Framework in the Pacific region. In partnership with UNDRR Pacific and the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership, the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) led the thematic review focused on gender equality and social inclusion in DRR. The GESI thematic review will support the broader UNDRR-led Pacific Midterm Review, by synthesising relevant evidence and progress towards GESI in DRR across Australian Government funded investments in the Pacific.
