Autumn 2021 intake update for Year 12 students
UTS understands that there has been considerable disruption to your studies due to COVID-19 and some of you are feeling uncertain about how your plans to start at university in 2021 will be affected.
We're committed to ensuring you have clarity about your path to uni and that you are supported through an equitable admission process.
UTS will be opening applications for Autumn 2021 in July. Year 12 students will then be able to apply for our admission schemes, including the educational access schemes (inpUTS) and Schools Recommendation Scheme. Both these schemes are aimed at helping Year 12 students gain equitable entry into university by taking into account specific personal circumstances along with your ATAR when considering your application.
We are working on additional admission schemes for school leavers which will be informed by NESA’s announcement of the 2020 HSC exams on Friday 15 May. More information to come soon.
UTS has a range of schemes that exist to help applicants increase their chances of being made an offer to study with us. We recognise there are certain circumstances that should be taken into consideration when applying. These include your academic performance in specific HSC subjects, interest in certain study areas, experiences of educational disadvantage, and/or your identity as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person.
When applying to UTS, there are several adjustment factors that can be taken into consideration in your application. These factors, which are recognised through the following admissions schemes, can apply points in addition to your ATAR or other qualification rank to become a selection rank. UTS then considers your application to study a course based on your selection rank.
You may apply for and receive adjustment points from more than one admissions scheme (check each scheme for eligibility criteria) but some faculties at UTS apply a cap to the total number of adjustment points that you can receive for their courses:
- Business - 10 point cap
- Design, Architecture and Building; Engineering and IT - 13 point cap
Year 12 subject scheme
If you're a current high school student, you're eligible for this scheme. The Year 12 subject scheme awards points towards your selection rank, based on your performance in selected high school subjects that are relevant to the course you’ve applied for.
Educational access schemes
UTS is committed to educational equity. We have a number of schemes that are designed to allow students from a wide range of backgrounds to access our courses.
Elite athletes and performers
If you are an elite athlete or performer who represented your school or state at a national level competition/event and your study has been impacted.
Specific study area schemes
If you have an interest or aptitude in the study areas of business, design or architecture, engineering, information technology or science, there are schemes in place which take these into consideration in your application to study at UTS.
