Kyaw Sie Sein graduated from UTS with a Master of Information Technology and major in Software Development. Today, he’ss a Senior Software Engineer at Domain in Sydney.

Originally from Yangon, Myanmar, Kyaw had his sights set on Sydney to pursue his Master of Information Technology.

While deciding on which university to choose, UTS’s rank as the top performing young university in Australia (THE Young University Rankings 2023) caught his eye.

“I chose UTS despite the scholarship offer because of the unique opportunities and resources it offered in Software Development. UTS has a reputation for its strong industry connections and practical approach to learning, which I believed would better prepare me for my future career as a software engineer.

“Although the decision meant forgoing a scholarship, I felt that the long-term benefits of attending UTS outweighed the immediate financial gain. The experiences and connections I gained at UTS have been instrumental in shaping my career path and helping me secure opportunities that I may not have had access to otherwise.”

Kyaw credits his coursework with giving him crucial work experience for his resume which helped him stand out in his post-graduation job applications.

“In Internet Programming, I created an online platform that simulated an e-commerce website, allowing users to browse products, add items to their cart, and complete purchases. Through this project, I gained proficiency in a modern JavaScript stack, which included technologies like React.js for front-end development, Node.js for back-end server logic, and MongoDB for database management. On my resume, I highlighted my experience with this project as it showcased several key skills and competencies that are highly valued in the industry.”
