Creating a safer campus environment for all.

Launching early next year, the new and expanded Respect Matters will replace Consent Matters and is mandatory for all students, even if you’ve done the previous module.

Respect Matters focuses on respectful relationships, consent, and creating safe spaces for everyone. It’ll also help UTS meet its obligations to all students under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence.

You can’t have meaningful consent without a foundation of respect. Respect Matters will help you understand how to create that foundation – in every interaction.  Learn how to: 

  • Communicate respectfully with others 
  • set and respect boundaries
  • grow your empathy skills 
  • contribute to building safe, inclusive spaces at UTS.

You’ll find Respect Matters on Canvas when it launches. This is part of UTS’s commitment to a respectful and inclusive campus, because consent starts with respect.
