Stay informed - important and time sensitive information

You should carefully read the subject information and regularly check Canvas for any changes to subject material and for announcements throughout the session.

UTS staff will only send emails to your UTS email address so you should check your UTS inbox at least once a week. Likewise, you should only send emails to staff from your UTS email address. UTS staff will not respond to emails from any other email accounts.

Assessment procedures and advice

During your studies at UTS, you may be required to complete a number of different types of assessment for each subject. Detailed assessment requirements, including the weighting of assessment items, due dates and arrangements for collection and return of assessment items, are set out where available, in each subject in Canvas.

All staff and students involved in the assessment of coursework subjects at UTS must comply with the Coursework Assessments Policy. This policy is applicable to the assessment of all coursework subjects including those undertaken by research degree students. However the policy does not apply to the thesis component of graduate research degrees. It also does not cover the academic progression through a course of study.

If you find it difficult to meet an assessment deadline or requirement, you should consult with your subject coordinator. You may be eligible to apply for an extension or special consideration in exceptional circumstances. If you're registered with the UTS Accessibility Service or have carer responsibilities, you can also contact your faculty's Academic Liason Officer (ALO) to discuss reasonable adjustments and provisions for assessment.

Academic integrity

Academic integrity is central to UTS and is about demonstrating honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage in your studies.

As a student, to maintain academic integrity you must:

  • Do your own work from start to finish and submit only your own original work.
  • Acknowledge and properly reference any ideas, theories, data or materials that you use or adapt in your work.
  • Do group work according to the guidelines from your tutor, lecturer or supervisor and follow correct procedures whether you are being assessed as an individual or a group.
