Please note that the following information is for UTS students enrolled in subjects taught by the Faculty of Law. If you are enrolled in a UTS Law short course which involves assessment, please refer to the following webpage.
All assessment items are expected to be submitted by the specified due date to avoid academic penalty or automatic failure. However, students may apply for an extension to the submission date of their assessment piece through the following processes:
1. 72 Hour Extensions
Students can apply for an automatic 72 hour extension to an assessment due date through an assignment extension tool in Canvas. 72 hour extensions are available for most Canvas assignments with a set due date. 72 hour extensions are not available for (but not limited to):
- Canvas quizzes and exams
- In-class assessments (for example in-class presentations)
Extensions can be requested from 14 days ahead of the due date.
2. Extensions Greater Than 72 Hours
If your studies are affected by serious illness or extenuating hardship, and require long-term extensions (greater than 72 hours from the original due date), you need to submit an application for special consideration.
Under no circumstances will assessment tasks be accepted after assessments have been returned to other students.
