To provide financial support to Aboriginal andor Torres Strait Islander students who are undertaking a UTS undergraduate Science degree.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship, a candidate must meet all of the following criteria:
- be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either:
a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or
a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and
- Be enrolled or intending to enroll in an undergraduate course (including eligible double degrees) or a graduate certificate at the UTS in the Faculty of Science directly following the Scholarship selection; and
Must complete an online Scholarship application form to be considered
Applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Selection process
Having met the eligibility criteria, the recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Passion and/or interest for study in science
- Be culturally connected to their respective Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems
- Demonstrated life experience that contributes to the motivation to study science
- Clearly communicates a vision of where science may lead them after graduation
