Supporting Vietnamese PhD candidates to undertake graduate research at UTS


Project 89 is a Vietnamese Government scholarship initiative. UTS supplements Project 89 funding for eligible Vietnamese students undertaking an approved PhD program in Sydney.

The Vietnam Government Project 89 scholarship provides funding for up to 3 years and 6 months.

 

Vietnam Government funding:
  • a tuition fee scholarship of up to $25,000 USD per academic year
  • a stipend scholarship of $1,120 USD per month
  • an international return airfare and travel allowances
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the time spent in Australia (up to $1,000 USD per year)

 

UTS funding:
  • a scholarship for 3.5 years to support the full tuition fee (supplement the Project 89 funding), being the difference between the tuition fee scholarship provided by the Vietnam government (Project 89) and UTS' tuition fee
  • a supplementary living allowance in addition to the stipend provided by the Vietnamese government under Project 89 to bring the total stipend to the value to the UTS base stipend rate for that year (ie. the current 2027 rate is $40,500 AUD per year) to support students whilst in Australia

Eligibility

You are eligible for this scholarship if you:

  • be a citizen of Vietnam
  • meet UTS admissions criteria including English Language Requirements
  • have an offer for an approved PhD program at UTS
  • be nominated to receive the Vietnam government scholarship (Project 89)
  • commence full-time enrolment as an onshore international student at UTS in Sydney

How to apply

1.      Apply to UTS for PhD admission. Prepare and submit your application for an approved PhD program at UTS.

2.      Apply for Project 89 funding. Follow the Vietnamese Government nomination and scholarship process.

3.      Provide evidence of Project 89 funding. Submit your scholarship documentation to UTS so your admission and supplementary support can be finalised.
