Overview

Bird & Bird Sports Law Prize was established to recognise the best-performing student in the subject 76002 Sports Law.

Who is eligible?

The prize will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest aggregate mark in subject 76002 Sports Law in the relevant academic year. 

  • In the event that two or more eligible students have the same highest aggregate mark, the following criteria will be considered: 
    • Performance in subject 76002 Sports Law outside of formal assessment that demonstrates mastery of and engagement in the subject; 
    • No previous attempts of subject 76002 Sports Law; 
    • Overall academic performance in the student’s course, including GPA, whether the student has failed other subjects, received academic cautions or had a finding of misconduct against them. 

Selection process

  • The student(s) with the highest aggregate mark will be nominated by the Faculty of Law, according to the eligibility and recipient selection criteria as provided in clause 4 and 5; 
  • In the event that two or more eligible students have the same highest final mark, a selection committee of a minimum of three (3) people, chaired by the Dean, Faculty of Law (or nominee) will select a Recipient based on the specified selection criteria in clause 5; 
  • The endorsed Recipient will then be formally approved or declined by the Dean, Faculty of Law (or nominee) based upon the selection criteria in clauses 5 and 7.
