From China to Sydney: SSTC students at UTS transcript

Hi guys, I'm Yifan Song, and as a year four student coming from SSTC, I'm here to show you my day studying at UTS.

Every day I take public transportation to campus. It's very convenient and efficient. UTS is located in Sydnety Central and just a short walk from Central Station, the city's primary railway hub, making it easily accessible from all parts of Sydney and beyond. For new students, please remember to purchase an Opal card and download the TripView app to plan your journey and get real-time updates on train schedules and routes.

When you visit the UTS campus, you will feel the lovely vibe. There are many modern buildings with creative designs, like the award-winning Business School building and the futuristic UTS Central building.

Our School of Engineering building is unique and we often do experiments here, and it provides various equipment for engineering students. And also I'm looking forward to taking you to see our laboratories and classrooms.

Our UTS Science building is an environment-friendly building, including a green roof stormwater collection and treatment for garden irrigation, solar hot water and many more sustainability features. It actually has more levels underground where you can explore a lot of cutting-edge laboratories.

I enjoy staring in the collaborative classroom at UTS, where we can use a lot of advanced facilities, including interactive smartboards, flexible seating arrangements and advanced audio and visual equipment. This design facilitates real-time cooperation and idea-sharing during our group projects, and we can greatly improve our learning outcomes and skills development.

I love the very bright and modern UTS Library. I think the educational approach and learning environment at UTS and back in China is very different. In China we focus more on theoretical knowledge and lecture-based approach, but UTS emphasises a hands-on practical approach and encourages students' participation, critical thinking and collaboration.

After your Bachelor of Honours or Master's studies you can also have the opportunity to work alongside academics and industry professionals across the various disciplines on your research area, which can help us to achieve the work for PHD study.

The skills and experiences that I learned from UTS significantly enhanced my employability in Sydney's competitive job market. Their group projects, presentations and different social and club activities, which can help you improve your communication skills, and effective teamwork skills, and these are essential in the workplace.

We also have over 130 student-run clubs. By the way, UTS Chinese Students & Scholars Association is a comprehensive student group with many interesting activities.

After a busy day of study I enjoy my life in Sydney, one of the most livable cities. I like the stunning natural scenery, including the world-famous Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the iconic beaches like Bondi and Manly, which can let us relax and enjoy a very peaceful lifestyle.

My home is not actually far away in Sydney. I'm now at Chinatown and if you miss Chinese food, you can always find a place where you can enjoy a taste of home and make friends with different backgrounds. All this can help us broaden our horizons and develop global awareness.

Welcome to your new home at UTS! We look forward to helping you every step of the way and helping you with anything we could – just let us know.

Welcome to our UTS family, I'm sure you will enjoy.

Wish you have a good journey studying in UTS.

Go chase your dreams and rock it.

Good luck to you all and wish you have fun as you learn.

I hope you all enjoy your life and journey at UTS and Sydney.

Good day to all of you.

Give yourself a chance, we are waiting for you here.

Wish you all the best at UTS and enjoy your study life.
