Build a world designed for humanity with our STEM programs for schools.
STEM x Play
Gender stereotypes in STEM start forming at the age of 5. Our STEM x Play primary school program aims to address girls' confidence and interest in STEM and the key intersecting influences of teachers and parents.
Year 7 and 8 Engineering and IT Projects
Year 7 and 8 technology classes work with UTS mentors on projects that combine the Digital Technologies and Engineered Systems curriculum with real-world problems, and innovative technology. Projects run over four weeks and include topics such as automation, renewable energy, drone technology, cyber security, data analytics and civil engineering.
This program also includes a team of UTS students to attend subject selection events at the school to offer insight into pathways in engineering and IT.
Our program for years 9-10 expands students' experiences with Engineering and IT through 4 one-hour workshops delivered in a full day of fun. These workshops are delivered by UTS students and industry professionals to inspire confidence and interest in Engineering and IT.
The workshops are complemented by our 'STEM Circles', which is inspired by the World Cafe facilitation method and involves small booths facilitated by UTS and industry mentors. This is an opportunity to debunk the myths of engineering and IT, voice concerns, ask questions and hear about the different paths into engineering and IT in a supportive, relaxed environment.
