Technology Management and Assessment

Co-evolution of digital platforms with work practices in the higher education sector

Taran Ahuja, Supervised by Olivera Marjanovic
This study aims to understand how digital platforms in the higher education sector co-evolve with work practices. The projects involves a case study of a digital platform used in the university sector for a specific work practice and the data collected will be observed using the lens of co-evolution.

Requirements Engineering and Digital Twin Creation in Rail Transport Projects

Fisher Chen Supervised by Julie Jupp

 RE DT Creation RailProjects

The research focuses on the complexity of requirements engineering processes in rail transport projects, identifying the challenges of developing and managing traditional operational, systems, and physical requirement types together with the new information requirement types that underpin the creation of digital assets generated during project delivery.
This project is funded by an International Research Scholarship

Learning and Professional Practice

Experience of Engineering and IT students with disabilities accessing Work-Integrated Learning Placements

Timothy Boye Supervised by Eva Cheng, Tania Machet

Access WIL logo

People with disabilities face many barriers to study and work and are underrepresented in these areas. This project looks at the intersection of these experiences where students with disabilities look for and complete internships as part of their degrees.
This project is funded by ACEN and AAEE

Engineering Identity of International Women Engineering Undergraduates in Australian Universities

Wenqian Gan, Supervised by Anne Gardner and Scott Daniel
Engineering identity informs how engineering is perceived, how education curricula is developed, and which student it attracts. This project looks at women international engineering students' pathways to engineering and negotiation of identities to inform pedagogical approaches and interventions.

Investigation into the development of transport solutions in New South Wales

Gavin Cavanagh Supervised by Roger Hadgraft, Igor Hawryszkiewycz and Kasun De Silva Wijayaratna
This research looks at the performance of New South Wales Transport Infrastructure and Asset Projects from 2004 to 2019, a period of high capital investment, to ascertain if projects undertaken during that time, delivered what they were planned to. It especially looks at the achievement of planned outcomes, rather than other aspects of project delivery, such as cost and time.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Australia-Korea Forum on Big Data Analytics in ICT

Rene Leveaux
The research project is to develop a new educational model for the delivery of the education processes in the sport to the Oceania Taekwondo Union member countries in the Oceania region.

The role of entrepreneurial interventions in developing engineering students' public awareness and empathy

Aleksandr Litvinov Supervised by Anne Gardner, Sojen Pradhan and Jeri Childers
This study should help to understand how existing entrepreneurial educational approaches contribute to the development of engineering students' empathy and public awareness. The aim of this study is to explore the lived experiences of nascent technology entrepreneurs, focusing on empathy development processes.

Influencing Factors of the Online-startups for Young Ethnic Minority Groups on the Live Social Platform

Lifu Li Supervised by Kyeong Kang
The study applies the COM-B theory of Behaviour Change and the Hofstede Cultural theory (improved) to build the research model and presents influencing factors of the online-startups promoted by young EMGs on LSPs.
This Project is funded by International Research Scholarship and UTS President's Scholarship

Social impacts of technology

Understanding Social Impact of Platform Cooperatives

Jiang Zhu Supervised by Olivera Marjanovic
This HDR project is to investigate how platform cooperatives, which are digital platform enabled and member co-owned cooperatives, contribute to UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Revisiting and Augmenting the Framework for Technology Acceptance in the Energy Context

Tanvi Bhatia Supervised by Gnana Bharathy
There is a constant development in various technologies around the world leading to uncertainty and ambiguity in their successful implementation. This makes it hard for the technology to diffuse through into the world. An important factor for technology diffusion is social acceptance. My thesis will model the social acceptance effects on energy technology.
