Meeting the best of the best
Dr Mohammad Dahman Alshehri represents UTS at the 2019 Heidelberg Laureate Forum
Dr Alshehri has been selected to represent UTS and attend this year’s Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 22-27 September.
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum is a prestigious annual event bringing together the world’s top 200 leading young mathematicians and computer scientists to engage in a cross-generational scientific dialogue with eminent laureates in their fields. For Dr Alshehri, the presence at Heidelberg of Whitfield Diffie and Martin Hellman means a face-to-face opportunity to discuss aspects of his work with two of the most influential contributors to cryptography.
I want to make a groundbreaking contribution in the field of cybersecurity and IoT with using artificial intelligence. So as the best laureates in Internet and computer science will be attending HLF I can build collaboration and networking for future work and research.
From Saudi Arabia, he recently completed his PhD in trust management for the Internet of Things (IoT - or how all the devices around us will be contacting each other without any human interaction), He is currently a visiting fellow at the School of Computer Science and a member of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI)., researching ways to improve cybersecurity to address cyber-attacks, and applying artificial intelligence to IoT and blockchain (how to track the records of any transactions with IoT devices by using AI).
Dr Alshehri has invented novel solutions and developed six intelligent algorithms to detect the cyber behaviour attacks on any type of IoT devices. The remarkable results obtained from his work provide a reliable environment for IoT, thus increasing the security and reliability between the interaction of IoT devices and entire IoT paradigms.
Although he has had further achievements during his studies including publishing in top tier journals, books and conferences, he said he never expected to be selected for Heidelberg.
This is a unique opportunity for me to share my research with my peers and, with the best laureates in attending HLF, to share and discuss how we will approach growing global trends such as the increase in cyber-attacks in the daily usage of information.
