Taiwan

UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is creating strong partnerships in Taiwan.

Research Workshop between National Cheng Kung University and University of Technology Sydney.

The partnerships focus on research engagements and include collaborative PhD program with partner universities in Taiwan. The key areas of collaboration are:

  • Wireless Communications and Sensing
  • Cybersecurity
  • Semiconductor and Electronics
  • Computer Vision
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Internet of Things
  • Electrical Power and Energy Systems
  • Space Technologies
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Water Engineering
  • Renewable Fuel

UTS has established collaborative PhD programs with the following universities in Taiwan:

  • National Tsing Hua University (NTHU)
  • National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU)
  • National Cheng Kung University (NCKU)
  • National Taiwan University (NTU)

Potential PhD students (including those outside of Australia and Taiwan) are invited to apply for the above collaborative PhD programs. Current PhD students at UTS and at the partner university can also apply. Under these programs PhD students will be enrolled at both UTS and the partner university. PhD students will conduct their research at both universities and they will graduate with PhD degrees from both UTS and the partner university. Scholarships both at UTS and at the partner university are available to support students in these programs. For more information interested candidates should contact potential supervisors at UTS and the partner university.

For the application process into the collaborative PhD programs at UTS, prospective candidates can refer to Collaborative doctoral research degrees. This document also contains application guidelines for potential inbound students (i.e. for students coming to UTS as the host university).

Taiwanese students who would like to participate in these programs can also apply for financial support from the Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council’s ‘PhD Students Study Abroad Program’. For more information refer to this webpage: National Science and Technology Council.

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) invites graduates from Taiwan to join our collaborative PhD programs, offering a unique opportunity to undertake joint research with UTS and participating Taiwanese universities. Learn more about collaborative PhD programs.
