Distinguished Professor Tracy Levett-Jones' program of research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of curricula interventions and examining the impact of healthcare education on clinical practice.
This research is designed to inform, influence, and potentially improve patient outcomes, and improve the quality of teaching and learning for healthcare students.
Distinguished Professor Levett-Jones research interests include:
- patient safety
- planetary health
- empathy
- clinical reasoning
- the student experience (including preparation for practice, transition, and retention)
Distinguished Professor Levett-Jones has expertise in mixed methods designs, evaluation studies, systematic reviews, cross-sectional surveys, Delphi technique, and experimental designs. She is committed to collaborative research and supporting research students and early career researchers to achieve excellence in educational research.
Distinguished Professor Levett-Jones is recognised as a world-leading nursing and healthcare researcher. Evidence of this includes her recent induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2022 and being ranked as one of the World’s Top 1% of Scientists in the discipline of Nursing according to Stanford University in 2021.
Distinguished Professor Levett-Jones has a strong track record of publications including authorship/editorship of 10 books, 58 book chapters and over 200 peer-reviewed articles in nursing, social science, allied health and medical journals.
She has been awarded more than $7 million in grant funding and has been the recipient of 17 research awards and 15 teaching awards and has also developed a number of educational websites including the award winning Virtual Empathy Museum.
