*extended hours for events and special programs.

702 Harris St, Ultimo, in the Peter Johnson Building (Building 6, Level 4) .

The gallery can be accessed from Harris Street or The Goods Line pedestrian corridor. It is a short walk from Central, Haymarket, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and Broadway Shopping Centre.

Getting here

Public Transport 

Public transport is the most convenient way to get to UTS. The gallery is five-minute walk from Central railway station, Railway Square and Eddy Avenue bus interchanges and the Haymarket light rail station.

Cycling & Parking 

There is bicycle parking in front of Building 6 on Harris Street, where UTS Gallery is located.

Limited metered on-street parking is available around UTS. Broadway Shopping Centre offers up to two hours free parking and there are pay parking stations nearby in Jones Street and Quay Street.

Physical access and facilities 

UTS Gallery

UTS Gallery is located on Level 4 of Building 6, 702 Harris St Ultimo.

From Harris Street: visitors using a wheelchair can access UTS Gallery via a ramp to Level 3, then take a lift to Level 4. There are 30 stairs from Harris Street up to the Level 4 courtyard, followed by a 30 second walk through the courtyard to enter the building and gallery.

From Broadway: visitors using a wheelchair can access UTS Gallery via a level footbridge connecting Building 1 (UTS Tower) and Building 6 which takes you directly to Level 4. Wheelchair accessible and all gender toilets are located on Level 4 of the UTS Gallery building at the Universal Café.

The gallery has no steps, is airconditioned and often brightly lit (though sometimes it can be dark when films or sound artworks are playing) and there are often sounds of students and staff talking outside the gallery during opening hours.

The UTS Broadway Screen

The UTS Broadway Screen is accessible directly from street level on Broadway at the Jones Street entrance to UTS Central (Building 2, Level 4A). There are accessible, all gender toilets close to the elevators on Level 3. The screen is visible to the public from the street, 8am - 12am, 7 days a week.

Warraburra Nura garden

Warraburra Nura garden is wheelchair accessible from street level on Broadway via elevators to Level 6.

The garden is accessible through a push/pull door near the top of the escalators, or through a level automated door in the library (which you need a student or staff swipe card to activate). There are accessible, all gender toilets close to the escalators on Level 6.

Assistance animals

Registered assistance animals are welcome at UTS Gallery and on the UTS campus.

Accessible parking

To park in accessible parking at UTS you need to get a UTS accessible parking permit. To get a UTS accessible parking permit:

Access to exhibition information

From 2022 onwards, all exhibitions and new commissions are accompanied by a large print text (which is Text-to-voice compatible) to assist with movement through exhibition spaces and understanding of works in the gallery.

We are working to improve access to art on campus and the materials we hold in the UTS Art Collection.

School Groups

We welcome school groups and tours. Please contact us about group visits to ensure that a staff member can be available to answer any questions.
