Overview

These are structured courses of scholarship and research related to the development and extension of professional practice. They include an emphasis on the extension and leadership development of both practice and practitioners in local, national and international contexts. Mandatory coursework provides opportunities for students to integrate their research focus within frameworks of policy development, leadership and international practice. Candidates work under the supervision of a principal supervisor who is an academic staff member of the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health and a supervisory panel of appropriately qualified experts.

Course duration

The Doctor of Nursing and Doctor of Midwifery are offered on a full-time or part-time basis. They are usually completed over a three-year, full-time or four-year, part-time period.

Course structure

There are five compulsory subjects, with the remainder of the course comprising supervised research.
