What you can expect from Tech Fest 2026

Tech Festival is a week-long celebration held on campus at UTS. Presented by the Faculty of Engineering and IT, the event features a series of workshops, panels, hackathons and showcses that highlight the next generation of engineers, developers and designers shaping the tech industry.

Whether you’re building an app from scratch in a 48-hour hackathon, hearing firsthand career insights from a UTS Engineering and IT alumn, or connecting with some of the industry’s brightest experts at our student showcase, Tech Fest offers something for everyone. It’s your opportunity to grow your professional portfolio or exercise your tech passion without the pressure of assignments or exams.

Events run daily from 9am to 8pm, so you can easily find something that fits your schedule. Our program includes a range of events designed for different audiences—some are just for UTS students, while others welcome high school students, tech enthusiasts, and industry professionals. Whatever your background, you’re invited to participate and expand your network in a relaxed, inclusive environment.

Speaker: Julie Jupp, Associate Professor, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Tech Fest is really a celebration of innovation and incredible student creativity that we have across all of our different schools in the Faculty of Engineering and IT. Everything from AI to robotics and cybersecurity are showcased.

Tech Fest is exciting, it's a great way to meet people, it's a great way to exchange ideas and to importantly learn off others to solve complex problems.

Speaker: Amy, Student, Faculty of Engineering and IT

Everyone just so proud of what they've done. Achieve whatever you want to achieve.

Speaker: Julie Jupp, Associate Professor, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

I think Tech Fest isn't just an event, it's really a launchpad for students to come along and to showcase their skills and their talent.

It's also an opportunity for our partners to get a front row seat to the creativity and skills that UTS students have.
