Overview

A three year scholarship ($27,596, 2019 rate) is available for a suitably qualified candidate. We are looking for a new PhD student who has a passion for respiratory research to join our team to investigate the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases.

We are investigating a number of exciting areas in respiratory medicine, and your PhD project will be based around our key research areas. These include, understanding how exposure to pollution during pregnancy leads to the development of respiratory diseases, respiratory infectious diseases, understanding the molecular changes which occur in lung cells from people with respiratory diseases, and lung cancer.

You will use the latest cutting edge biological techniques in addition to our standard techniques (real time PCR, microarrays and Westerns). Research arising from this project is expected to be presented in leading international journals and scientific meetings. You should have a relevant scientific degree (with Hons 1 or 2A or Masters equivalent), want to develop your scientific career, and be a team player.
